As President and CEO of Reach Resilience, Sonya Medina Williams leads the foundation in fulfilling our mission by drawing upon her two decades of experience building global brands, amplifying social innovation and impact, and engaging allies to advance measurable change.

A leading expert in corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability, and cause advocacy, Sonya is passionate about developing partnerships between corporations, nonprofits, government, and NGOs to create urgency and action for addressing social causes and finding solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.

Sonya began her career with a seven-year tenure at the White House where she was the first appointee for the dual role of Deputy Assistant to President Bush for Domestic Policy and Director of Projects for First Lady Laura Bush. She was instrumental in advancing initiatives focused on global health, peace and security, military families, and women’s rights, including the 2002 establishment of the U.S.-Afghan Women’s Council, a non-partisan public-private partnership that convenes governments, civil society, and the private sector to support Afghan women and girl’s education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and leadership.

An international thought leader on the inclusion and advancement of women and minorities, Sonya also founded the Latina Leadership Institute to increase minority representation in government and elected office, and she travels globally to speak about women’s leadership, corporate culture, diversity, equity & belonging and corporate governance. Sonya also served as the Director of the AT&T Global Foundation where she led a Fortune 100 company entity with a $120M budget, helping the foundation become a trailblazer on issues of education and sustainability. She later served as Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Silver Eagle Distributors, the nation’s largest distributor of Anheuser-Busch products, where she oversaw charitable giving and led targeted CSR efforts.

In addition to her leadership role at Reach Resilience, Sonya serves on multiple Board of Directors for private and public entities, including for Papa Johns International, Delta Apparel, Inc., and Teach for Uganda. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University and received a Master of Public Health from Columbia University.

As Executive Administrative Assistant and Secretary to the Board of Directors for Reach Resilience, Samra manages the foundation’s operations and outreach efforts in advancement of our mission to help people and communities in crisis overcome adversity through compassion and care.

Samra previously served in operational roles and has advocacy experience supporting survivors of domestic violence, volunteering with the San Antonio Public Library Foundation, and raising awareness for the importance of mental health by providing equine therapy for young people.

Samra received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Southwestern University.

With 46 years of service to his country, community, and brethren, Major General Alfred K. Flowers understands the challenges faced by our military service members and their families, and is deeply committed to advancing the Reach Resilience mission to support and uplift America’s veterans and all people and communities in crisis.

A Vietnam veteran, Distinguished Service Medal recipient, and Officer Training School graduate, Major General Flowers’ four decades of service include enlisting in the United States Air Force at age seventeen to serving as an air transportation and accounting specialist, budget officer, chief of budget at Air Combat Command, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of The Air Force for Budget, where he was responsible for $170 billion in funds. He also commanded the Holms Center at Maxwell AFB and The Second Air Force at Keesler AFB.

Major General Flowers’ dedication to public service and to the military is unrivaled, earning him an Air Force Association Lifetime Achievement Award and recognition as the longest-serving airman in Air Force history, longest-serving African American in defense history, and longest serving continuous active duty member in the history of The United States Department of Defense. In 2012, he was inducted into the Air Education and Training Command Order of The Sword making him only the 224th Air Force inductee since 1967.

He continues to serve his community as President and CEO of KAL-46 Consulting. He authored the book, Reflections of a Servant Leader, and travels globally as a motivational speaker and guest lecturer. He previously served on the board of directors for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, the Air Force Aid Society, and the Air Force Services Agency and currently serves on several private and public boards, including for Endeavors. Major General Flowers received his undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University and graduate degrees from Ball State University and The National Defense University.
